asked the Prime Minister whether she is satisfied that the discussions in the National Economic Development Council are an adequate alternative to the economic forum advocated by the Confederation of British Industry and the British Institute of Management.

The Prime Minister

The National Economic Development Council has recently had a series of constructive discussions about the country's central economic problems. I believe that at this stage it is best to try to develop these discussions rather than to set up a separate economic forum.
