Q29. Mr. Peter Bottomley

asked the Prime Minister if it is the policy of Her Majesty's Government to raise the entitlement to child benefit and correspondingly to reduce payments for dependent children which are made to national insurance as described in the Green Paper, "Income During Initial Sickness: a New Strategy".

The Government's policy is to continue to offset increases in child benefit against national insurance additions for dependent children.
