§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for Energy how many (a) Acts of Parliament and (b) statutory instruments apply to the mining industry, excluding coal.
§ Mr. David MitchellI have been asked to reply.
The principal Acts administered by the Department of Industry which apply specifically to the mining industry are the Mines (Working Facilities and Support) Acts 1966 and 1974; the Mineral Exploration and Investment Grants Act 1972.
It would be impracticable to list all other legislation which applies in whole or in part to mining. Such legislation appears in standard works of reference, available in the House of Commons Library.
