§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for Social Services, in view of the difficulty of diagnosing pleural mesothelioma in its initial stages, how best data may be collated to enable practitioners to make more accurate and correct diagnosis; and whether he considers there is a role that registered charities could be called upon to play.
§ Mr. PrenticeThe diagnosis of the uncommon disease pleural mesothelioma in its early stages is recognised as difficult. Data on the symptoms and aetiology of the disease are best disseminated to practitioners through the usual professional literature and institutions for medical education and training. Should registered charities have ideas on ways in which they might make an effective contribution, I will of course consider them.
