§ Mr. Sproatasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he expects to make a statement on the representation made to him by the fishing industry on 3 July asking for some £30 million aid to help the industry at a time of growing unemployment in the industry, the tying-up of even more vessels, the rising cost of fuel and the competition from subsidised foreign vessels, resulting in cheap imports of foreign fish.
