§ Sir Ian GilmourThe relations between Her Majesty's Government and the Government of the Republic of Ireland are excellent. They reflect our common membership of the European Community and the unique relationship between our peoples. At their meeting on 21 May my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister and the Taoiseach noted with satisfaction the efforts being made by the two Governments, both separately and in co-operation, in the field of security. They also agreed to hold regular meetings, to develop new and closer political co-operation.
