§ Mr. LawsonBetween 31 March 1946 and 31 March 1980, the national debt fell by £111,861 million at March 1980 prices, based on provisional data for the national debt at 31 March 1980. Provisional national debt outstanding at 31 March 1980 is £95,327 million by comparison with £23,742 million outstanding at 31 March 1946, which revalued at March 1980 prices is equivalent to £207,188 million.
