Din of Forest Gate, E7; what was contained in this letter requesting information on immigration which could and should not have been sent by 8 July; and when a reply may be expected.
§ Mr. WhitelawNo. A reply was sent to the hon. Member's general inquiry about aspects of the new rules on 9 July. Given the level of correspondence from hon. Members on immigration and nationality matters and the need to give priority to cases where a person is detained pending my review of representations I do not consider that there was any unreasonable delay in dealing with this matter. It remains my wish to reply as quickly as practicable.
