asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list the names of all voluntary bodies to which his Department gave funds in 1979 and in the current year; and how much went to each individual body last year and in the current year.

The full information about grants made by the Department of requested is not available. Information Employment and the Manpower Services Commission to voluntary bodies in 1978–79 was given in a written reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Woolwich, West (Mr. Bottomley) on 11 July 1979. It is possible to give similar information for the 1979–80 financial year. Detail is given by function as follows:

Community Industry

The National Association of Youth Clubs operates this scheme on behalf of the Secretary of State and the provisional total of grant issues in 1979–80 was £16,527,000.

in these areas are school leavers. There is no area specifically designated as the Medway travel-to-work area.

Sheltered Employment Details of grants made to individual voluntary organisations providing sheltered employment could only be obtained at disproportionate cost. The estimated total amount of grants paid direct to voluntary organisations in 1979–80 was £1,620,000, comprising £226,000 for capital expenditure and £1,394,000 for current costs.
