HC Deb 14 July 1980 vol 988 c436W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the center hon. Member for Middlesbrough, as representing the House of Commons Commission, whether he will give details of the advertisement made by the Treasury and Civil Service Committee for three temporary assistants to assist the Clerk of the Committee to cover economic, taxation and administrative questions; what are the salary scales; whether pension benefits have to be paid for; and how many staff working in or around the House of Commons have salaries at or above £9,000 per annum with non-contributory pension entitlements.

Mr. Arthur Bottomley

The advertisement appeared following a decision taken by the Commission, in consultation with the liaison committee. The salary scales will depend on the age and experience of the successful candidates, but will be within the range of £7,730 to £11,280. The normal pension scheme for staff of the House will apply. The numbers of staff of the House with salaries over £9,000, to whom the pensions scheme applies, is 131.
