Mr. Churchill

asked the Lord Privy Seal if, in the light of the acquittal by

and subscriptions made by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, including the Overseas Development Administration, to voluntary bodies in the financial years 1979–80 and 1980–81 are as follows:

the Zambian High Court of the British subject Michael Borlace on grounds that his confession was signed following torture, and his subsequent re-arrest, Her Majesty's Government will now take steps to intervene with the Government of Zambia to urge Mr. Borlace's release.

Our High Commission in Lusaka is already in touch with the Zambian authorities over the renewed detention of Mr. Borlace.
