HL Deb 14 July 1980 vol 411 c1603WA
Lord GRIDLEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are aware that the Inner London Education Authority has recruited 350 teachers, supported by 40 welfare officers and a small team of specialists to help schools deal with the problems caused by severely disruptive pupils; and what has been the cost of this recruitment.

The MINISTER of STATE, DEPARTMENT of EDUCATION and SCIENCE (Baroness Young)

We are aware of the authority's programme related to disruptive pupils. I understand that full implementation of the programme would involve 325 teachers (of whom 270 are at present in post) and would cost in the region of £2 million per annum at 1979 prices.
