§ Lord GRIDLEYasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they are aware that the Inner London Education Authority has recruited 350 teachers, supported by 40 welfare officers and a small team of specialists to help schools deal with the problems caused by severely disruptive pupils; and what has been the cost of this recruitment.
§ The MINISTER of STATE, DEPARTMENT of EDUCATION and SCIENCE (Baroness Young)We are aware of the authority's programme related to disruptive pupils. I understand that full implementation of the programme would involve 325 teachers (of whom 270 are at present in post) and would cost in the region of £2 million per annum at 1979 prices.
