§ Mr. Patrick JenkinSection 1(6)(a) of the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979 requires me to appoint the first chairman of the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting. I am pleased to announce, on behalf of myself and my center hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, that Miss Catherine M. Hall, general secretary of the Royal College of Nursing has accepted an invitation to serve in this capacity.
