asked the Lord Privy Seal what is the target figure for expenditure on overseas aid for the current year and for each year to 1983–84, expressed as a percentage of gross national product.

Mr. Neil Marten

We have no such target figure. Aid performance figures expressed as a percentage of GNP are compiled historically, but I cannot forecast aid expenditure as a share of GNP. It depends on the outturn of GNP for the year in question.
