§ Mr. Richard Wainwrightasked the Secretary of State for Employment what departmental studies have been undertaken into the scheme currently in operation in the Federal Republic of Germany whereby the German Government provide a subsidy for company in-house training and retraining schemes so as to bring their employees up to date with new schemes; and if he will make a statement on the feasibility of introducing such a scheme in Great Britain.
§ Mr. Jim LesterI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the MSC has made no specific studies of the subsidies for company in-house training and retraining in operation in the Federal Republic of Germany. However, as part of its current review of the Employment and Training Act, the MSC commissioned a report on vocational training in West Germany.
