Mr. Homewoodasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he has received a copy of "The Strategy for Corby", a community plan produced by the Corby joint industrial committee; and what is his policy on the proposals for the funding of the capital costs for training and retraining and education services contained therein.
§ Mr. MacfarlaneMy right hon. and learned Friend is aware of the document to which the hon. Member refers, although it has not been formally referred to the Department. Training and retraining are primarily the responsibility of the Northamptonshire local education authority and the Manpower Services Commission and my right hon. and learned Friend understands there is close liaison between them and other bodies concerned locally. The proposals made in respect of other education services are also matters for consideration by the local education authority in the first instance.
