§ Dr. BoysonMany local education authorities conduct extensive programmes of testing in these subjects in primary schools, of a general assessment or diagnostic nature. In addition, my Department's assessment of performance unit has recently established national monitoring programmes to assess the performance of 11-year-old pupils in language and mathematics.
