HC Deb 07 July 1980 vol 988 cc24-5W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if the Parliamentary Boundary Commission has yet commenced the review of parliamentary constituency boundaries in Birmingham.

Mr. Brittan

Electoral arrangements orders having been made for all districts in West Midlands county, the Parliamentary Boundary Commission for England is now free to commence its review of parliamentary constituencies in the area, but I understand that it is unlikely to publish provisional recommendations for constituencies in Birmingham before the end of the year.

Mr. Dormand

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to receive the outstanding reports of the Boundary Commission for parliamentary constituencies; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Brittan

I understand that the Parliamentary Boundary Commission for England is likely to have completed its task of reviewing all parliamentary constituencies by early 1982.
