Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will publish in the Official Report a table showing the sums paid to each Gaelic Athletic Association club in Northern Ireland from public funds and the purposes for which they were paid; and which of the sums were for the purposes of promoting the activities of the Gaelic Athletic Association.

The grants were paid to promote the sporting and recreational activities of individual sports clubs affiliated to the Gaelic Athletic Association. In addition, the Sports Council paid governing body grants amounting to about £28,000 during the period 1976–77 to 1979–80 to the Ulster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association towards administration, training and coaching and travel costs.
