HC Deb 07 July 1980 vol 988 cc21-2W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will give a list of the organisations funded or supported by his Department either wholly or in part, where such organisations spend 50 per cent. or more of such funds on wages and salaries of their staffs.

Mr. Whitelaw

The information is as follows:

  • Equal Opportunities Commission
  • Gaming Board for Great Britain
  • Immigration Appellate Authorities
  • Institute of Marital Studies
  • International Social Service of Great Britain
  • Joint Committee for Refugees from Vietnam
  • National Association for Care and Resettlement of Offenders
  • National Marriage Guidance Council
  • Police Complaints Board
  • United Kingdom Immigrants Advisory Service

In addition, a large number of voluntary organisations are grant-aided by the Home Office and in most cases it is what percentage overall were so acquitted by magistrates' courts and by the Crown court, respectively.

Mr. Brittan

The information recorded is given in the following table.

thought that 50 per cent. or more of each grant is spent on wages and salaries. But details could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
