How many people are employed in the production of coal, working underground and on the surface, and in administration, respectively.

At the end of the last financial year the total number of men on colliery hooks was 233,163 of whom 185,759 worked underground and 47,704 on the surface. The total administrative staff (excluding non-mining subsidiaries) was 28,500.
