Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) how many job losses in the last 12 months there have been in the North-West, Merseyside, Kirkby and Ormskirk;

(2) how many closures were notified in the 12 months since May 1979 in the North-West, Merseyside, Kirkby and Ormskirk;

(3) how many redundancies are pending and how many workers are involved in the North-West, Merseyside, Kirkby and Ormskirk;

(4) how many (a) men, (b) women, (c) young people and (d) school leavers are currently unemployed in the North-West, Merseyside, Kirkby and Ormskirk; and how many vacancies there are for each group in each area;

(5) how many adults and young people have been unemployed (a) for one year and (b) for two years in (i) the North-West, (ii) Merseyside, (iii) Kirkby and (iv) Ormskirk;

(6) what is his analysis of the prospects for those leaving school in the current year in Merseyside, Kirkby and Ormskirk have for finding jobs; and what action he proposes to take to improve their prospects.
