HL Deb 03 July 1980 vol 411 c732WA
Lord BROCKWAY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they agree with the proposals of the Anglo-Asian Conservative Society, of which the Prime Minister is president, and Lord Carrington and Mr. Raison vice-presidents, that East African Asians who opted for British citizenship should be allowed to come to Britain and assume full citizen rights here, and that all United Kingdom citizens should be able to bring their spouses to live in Britain.

The PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY of STATE, HOME OFFICE (Lord Belstead)

A White Paper on nationality law will be published shortly. The circumstances in which people settled here may be joined by their spouses are set out in the Immigration Rules.
