asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he has received the letter dated 25 June from Ms Maura Rafferty, honorary secretary of the joint docklands action group; and what was the nature of this communication and that of his reply.

Mr. Fox

Yes. It expresses concern about the arrangements for public consultation when the proposed urban development corporation is set up in docklands, and the hope that the present consultation structure will be continued. The Department has replied, agreeing with the importance of sensible arrangements for public consultation and saying that it is too soon to anticipate what the detailed arrangements might be.
