§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeGrants received from the European regional development fund towards roads in England, which were all for local authority capital projects, have amounted to:
£ Pre-1976–77 Nil 1976–77 731,538 1977–78 2,210,522 1978–79 1,769,660 In addition, some local authorities and other bodies have received loans from the European Investment Bank that have been applied to road projects.
Aid towards roads in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland is the responsibility of the Secretaries of State for those countries.
