HC Deb 30 January 1980 vol 977 cc679-80W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether, pursuant to the answer by the Prime Minister that fewer than 30 Iranian troops were being trained in the United Kingdom, Official Report, 17 January, column 1867, he will publish a list of those countries for which military training facilities are provided, showing in each case the numbers currently being trained.

Mr. Pym

I refer the hon. Member to a reply given by my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Defence for the Army on 19 December 1979, which contained a full list of the countries which have Service personnel under training at military establishments in the United Kingdom. It is not our normal practice to provide detailed information on the number of students from any particular country, but the total number of such students is currently of the order of 7,000 a year.
