HC Deb 30 January 1980 vol 977 c699W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what measures the chemical industry is taking to ensure that dioxin levels are always without variability below the World Health Organisation's safety limit of 0.1 milligramme per kilogramme.

Mr. Wiggin

I have been asked to reply.

This depends on the formulated product concerned. Manufacturers and importers of 2,4,5-T which is intended for formulation into crop protection products submit to Government scientists certificates of analysis for every batch which is intended for the United Kingdom market in order to establish that it complies with the safety limit. Formulated products are cleared through the pesticides safety precautions scheme.
