Mr. John Huntasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, in future, he will arrange for the payment of maternity grants to be made in two parts, with the initial payment dependent upon registration on or before the sixteenth week of pregnancy and upon regular attendance at an antenatal clinic.
§ Mrs. ChalkerThough I do appreciate the motive behind my hon. Friend's suggestion, the proposal would involve additional administrative cost which could not be justified in respect of the present £25 grant.
