§ Mr. KingThere is no right to compensation from the Government. Local authorities may at their discretion give 625W financial or other assistance to the victims of the recent flooding, and their expenditure in doing so will be eligible for Exchequer assistance as announced in my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Devon, North (Mr. Speller) on 14 January.—[Vol. 95, c. 604.] It is for authorities to make their intentions known as they see fit.
