HC Deb 29 January 1980 vol 977 c591W
Mr. Peter Mills

asked the Minister of Transport what stage has been reached in dualling the A30 Whiddon Down, Devon, to Lifton Down, Cornwall road; and when completion is likely to take place.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Three contiguous improvements schemese cover this length of the A30. They are:

  1. 1. Whiddon Down to Tongue End Cross
  2. 2. Okehampton Bypass
  3. 3. Sourton Cross to Lfton Down.

The first two are the subject of a current public inquiry. Public consultation about the route for the third took place in 1979 and the results are now being analysed.

All three schemes are subject to the current review of the trunk road programme. A White Paper giving possible start dates will be published as soon as possible. The construction time for each scheme should be about two years.
