§ Mr. YoungerThe number of civil servants employed in my Scottish Office departments at 1 May 1979 was 11,097 of whom 2,588 were employed in the prison service and 356 in the State hospital, Carstairs. At 1 January 1980 the corresponding figures were 10,837, 2,654 and 356.
