Mr. Thomas Cox

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the total number of children attending nursery schools in each of the regions of England; and what percentage this represents of children under the age of 5.

In paragraph 31 of the recent White Paper "The Government's Expenditure Plans 1980–81" local authorities were advised that it should be possible to maintain expenditure on the under-fives at about the present level".
