§ Mr. WhitelawThe Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, with my full support, is determined to deal effectively with any allegations of corruption in the Metropolitan Police. Such allegations will continue to be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the procedures prescribed by Parliament, and where justified by the evidence criminal and disciplinary proceedings will be taken against offenders. Anyone who has information about alleged corruption should bring it to the Commissioner's attention immediately.
