§ Mr. Jim LesterI am advised by the Manpower Services Commisson, which is responsible for the public employment service for disabled people, that the numbers of disabled people placed in employment during the months in question are as follows:
October 1978 5,024 November 1978 5,031 December 1978 4,733 October 1979 4,869 November 1979 4,681 December 1979 4,370 The aims of the "Fit for Work" campaign are wider than increasing the placings of disabled people. It encourages firms to examine policies and practices in order to secure better opportunities for training, career development and promotion for disabled people already in employment.
