§ Mr. Peter ReesIt is now estimated that the yield of stamp duty from residential property in 1979–80 will be about £225 million. The increase over the previous estimate of £170 million given in my reply of 2 July 1979—[Vol. 969, c.449–50]—is attributable to the increase in house prices during the second half of 1979. The corresponding figure in 1978–79 was £120 million.
