§ Mr. Jim LesterThe special temporary employment programme, under which the Burnbake Trust project was funded, was restricted in June 1979 to special development areas, development areas and designated inner city areas. To ease transitional problems at the end of its initial funding period the Manpower Services Commission extended support for the project for a further 12 weeks. No. further extension of STEP funding is possible but I have invited the Burnbake Trust to consider applying for support for part of its activities under the MSC's youth opportunities programme. I have also considered with my right hon. Friend the 249W Home Secretary other possibilities of assisting this very worthwhile project and I understand that he has offered further financial support.
