§ Mr. MacfarlaneThe Arts Council, for which my right hon. Friend is responsible, is charged with the duty of promoting the arts and making them accessible to the public at large, including young people. Many companies supported by the Arts Council are encouraged to include in their activities programmes which are directed particularly to young people; for example, Theatre-In-Education, Dance-In-Education, Writers-In-Schools and Music-In-Schools.
