HC Deb 16 January 1980 vol 976 c787W
Mr. Garel-Jones

asked the Lord Privy Seal what arrangements are being made to provide for interim measures to cover the period between the expiry of the Lomé convention and the June 1976 decision on the association of the overseas countries and territories with the EEC and the coming into force of the successor agreements.

Mr. Hurd

The EEC Council of Ministers reached agreement on interim measures for this purpose on 15 January. The Government gave their agreement to these measures before completion of the parliamentary scrutiny procedures in view of the urgent need for the Community to proceed to discussion of the measures concerned with the African, Caribbean and Pacific States.
