asked the Lord Privy Seal if any training is proposed to be offered to people from developing countries in respect of sea bed and related technologies; how courses will be funded; and if special assistance is proposed to be given to Commonwealth countries.

Mr. Hurd

The question of training personnel from developing countries to meet the manpower requirements of the proposed International Sea Bed Authority is under careful consideration at the Law of the Sea Conference. The secretariat is studying the requirements, and possible funding arrangements. This study should indicate how we and other countries might help.
