HC Deb 14 January 1980 vol 976 cc617-8W
Mr. Heddle

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he proposes to hold discussions with the Consumers Association to consider the precise definition of the words "merchantable quality" as used in the Sale of Goods Act 1973.

Mrs. Sally Oppenheim

Not at present. The Law Commission is considering this question as a result of the reference made in January 1979. In accordance with its normal practice, I am sure that the Law Commission will seek the views of interested parties—including the Consumers Association—before submitting its report, which I look forward to receiving.
