HC Deb 26 February 1980 vol 979 c492W
Mr. Greville Janner

asked the Prime Minister whether she will make representations under the terms of the Helsinki Final Act to President Brezhnev concerning the situation of Jewish students in the USSR in general and in particular the cases of Mr. Boris Kalendarev, Mr. Misha Taratuta and Mr. Leonid Brailovsky.

The Prime Minister

The Government's policy is to work for human rights improvements in the Soviet Union and to raise individual cases with the Soviet authorities when we judge that this might be effective. It is not the custom to reveal details of our representations or their timing.
