§ Mr. Beithasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will take steps to prohibit the manufacture in Great Britain for export of gin traps the use of which is prohibited in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. ParkinsonI have been asked to reply.
No. There are no powers to prohibit manufacture. As to export, successive Administrations have taken the view that in the fields of health, safety and welfare other countries should have the right to decide for themselves what controls, if any, to impose in the light of local conditions. I agree with that view.
