§ Mr. Jesselasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state the cost of house purchase transitional relief for each financial year since 1974, including the estimated figure for the current year and the anticipated cost, as provided for in section 10 of the Finance (No. 2) Act 1979, for the years 1980–81 and 1981–82 (a) assuming the relevant limit for new mortgages remains at £25,000 and (b) in the event of this figure being raised to £30,000.
