HC Deb 22 February 1980 vol 979 cc386-7W
Mr. Bowden

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he is satisfied that the Air Transport Users Committee is fulfilling a useful role; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Tebbit

The Air Transport Users Committee has been established by the Civil Aviation Authority to assist it to fulfil its statutory functions. I do not appoint the committee's members. However, I understand that the committee fulfills a useful role both in advising the authority and in dealing with complaints from air travellers. In addition to its annual reports, it has published material on air fares in Europe and a booklet of advice to air travellers.
