HC Deb 21 February 1980 vol 979 c327W
12. Mr. Stevens

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will establish free ports in Liverpool, London and Bristol.

44. Mr. Wheeler

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will establish free ports in Liverpool, London and Bristol.

52. Mr. Steen

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, if he will establish free ports in Liverpool, London and Bristol.

Mr. Peter Rees

No. I do not think that it would be appropriate to relieve traders of the obligation to pay duties in the way suggested at a limited number of ports. Facilities for the convenience of importers and exporters, such as bonded warehousing and a variety of import duty schemes, are already extensively available.
