§ Dr. BoysonIn January 1979 there were 3,328,000 pupils in comprehensive schools—(including middle schools deemed secondary)—in England; this represented 86 per cent. of pupils in all maintained secondary schools, and 72 per cent. of pupils aged over 11 in all schools —maintained, direct grant and independent. Educational provision in Wales is the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
