Lord BROCKWAY

asked the Leader of the House:

Whether the personal accident provision for Members of the House of Commons when engaged on parliamentary duties will apply to Members of the House of Lords.

The MINISTER of STATE, MINISTRY of AGRICULTURE, FISHERIES and FOOD (Earl Ferrers)

Personal accident insurance cover is provided for Members of the House of Lords while engaged on parliamentary business when travelling abroad. I will invite the Offices Committee to consider extending this cover to Members of the House while engaged on parliamentary business in the United Kingdom.
