§ Mr. John Pattenasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what study he has made of the report "The Universities' contribution to the Nation" by the Association of University Teachers; and whether he will hold discussions on practical ways to developing further the contribution of universities to the economy and the community.
§ Dr. BoysonI have read the report with interest. I am sure that the report2W is already fulfilling its purpose of increasing public awareness of the considerable contribution that the universities' make towards the economy of the country and to society as a whole. Ways in which this contribution might be furthered are, I am sure, being studied by individual universities.
