§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he plans to offer any financial or other amenities to British companies which wish to invest in Rhodesia but which are concerned for the security of future investment.
§ Mr. ParkinsonOverseas investment is a matter for the commercial judgment of the companies concerned. The Export Credits Guarantee Department would be prepared to consider approaches for cover against non-commercial risks in respect of new direct investment by British companies under the overseas investment insurance scheme. The Government are also ready to negotiate an investment promotion and protection agreement with the Government of Zimbabwe after the elections at the end of this month.
