HC Deb 07 February 1980 vol 978 c349W
Mr. John MacKay

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list protection orders under the Freshwater and Salmon Fisheries (Scotland) Act 1976 which he has (a) granted, (b) which are refused and are (c) under consideration.

Mr. Younger

No protection orders have yet been made under the Freshwater and Salmon Fisheries (Scotland) Act 1976. An order in respect of the Rivers Tweed and Eye catchment area will, however, be made shortly following a recent public inquiry.

No formal proposals have been rejected but a number of inquiries involving small catchment areas which had previously not been considered suitable are now being looked at again.

In additon to these proposals, formal proposals in respect of the Lower and Upper Rivers Spey, respectively, are under consideration.
